How long does therapy last?
The length of treatment varies from person to person. There are no hard and fast rules and it is important to remember that the duration of counselling is always your choice. I generally would see someone for 6 sessions before a mutual review and discussion on how to proceed.
How often does therapy take place
For the initial 6 sessions I would recommend that we meet weekly to allow the therapeutic relationship to be properly established. After that we would review the situation and I will do my best to accommodate your availability.
How much does it cost?
A counselling session lasts 50 minutes and costs €60.
How are sessions paid for?
Sessions are paid for at the end of each session. Payment can be made by cash or cheque.
Is there a cancellation fee?
Clients are expected to give 24 hours notice of a cancelled appointment. If not then they are liable for the full fee for that session. Missed appointments are also liable for a full cancellation fee.
Are my details and sessions confidential?
All dealings with clients are dealt with in the strictest confidence and subject to the standards and ethical codes laid down by my professional organisation, the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP).
What age group of people do you work with?
I meet with people of all age groups.
Please note – special consideration for minors
Alongside my qualification and training in Counselling and Psychotherapy, I am also specialised in Child and Adolescent Counselling and Psychotherapy. I use creative art therapies along with talk therapy with children. Some adolescents also find engaging in creative therapies to be of benefit whilst others are more comfortable with talk therapy. As a person-centred therapist first and foremost, I will always work in the medium most comfortable to my client.
Parental consent is required for minors under the age of 18. This takes place during the first meeting and involves a parent signing a consent form before the first session granting their permission for me to provide counselling to their child.
You can contact me directly and do not need a referral from your GP.
